2009年普通高等学校招生全国统一考试（江苏卷）说明对考生书面表达是这样要求的：要求考生根据所给提示和要求进行书面表达。考生应能：（1）在一定的语境中正确使用英语语法和词汇；（2）使用一定的句型、词汇，清楚、连贯地用英语表达自己的思想。近年来的英语高考书面表达中，为了能够体现考试说明中“使用一定的句型、词汇，清楚、连贯地用英语表达自己的思想”的要求，在书面表达中要求同学们陈述个人观点或看法或个人打算的越来越普遍，而且开放程度越来越高。
大家对“好的开头是成功的一半”是耳熟能详了。其实，心理学的理论也告诉我们：人的注意不仅特别善于关注事情的开头，而且特别善于关注事情的结尾。所以，我们可以毫不扩张地说“好的结尾可能是成功的另一半”。 因为陈述个人观点或看法或打算一般在文章的后半部分，再加上这一部分是考察同学们能否用英语清楚、连贯地用表达自己的思想。所以，这一部分的写作对整个书面表达的成败有着举足轻重的地位。很多同学就是因为这一部分写的不好，以至于造成“山高九仞，功亏一篑”的遗憾。很多同学对这一部分的写作是“爱你在心口难开”，即心中有数，就是不知道如何下笔。他们把这一部分要么写得很单薄——写一些非常简单、幼稚的句子草草结尾；要么写得文不对题，或者无病呻吟，或者借题乱发挥。这已经成为制约同学们提高书面表达能力的“瓶颈”。
那么，怎样才能在书面表达中有效地如何陈述个人观点呢？

在此我给同学们提三个建议：
第一、观点要明确 第二、 表达要扣题、要有层次 第三、要善于积累
第一、观点要明确
无论你持肯定还是否定，还是中立的态度。观点一定要明确。这个句子一般应是陈述个人建议部分的主题句。

例如：
08年江苏高考试卷“Being a Good Listener”中对“怎样倾听”的建议，表明其观点的主题句是：What I want to stress is that each of us should listen more to others.
08年浙江高考试卷“Working Individually or Working in a Team?”中对“我喜欢的方式和理由”，表明其观点的主题句是“Personally, I prefer to work in a team, which offers me a chance to learn how to get along with others and to share my experiences with them.”
再比如：
对于“法国一公司拍卖从圆明园被八国联军掠夺的鼠首和兔首事件”，你的感受如何？我们可以用这样的主题句表明我们的观点：“This kind of behaviour must be condemned，because it has not only hurt the feelings of the Chinese people, but has brought shame to the French people.”
再比如：
对于“The Environment or the Economy, Must we choose?”话题陈述个人观点，我们可以用这样的主题句表明我们的观点：As far as I am concerned, if we take the environment and the economy into consideration, a healthy environment and a stable economy should be possible at the same time.”
第二、 表达要扣题、要有层次
表达个人观点不是随意发挥。表达个人观点要紧扣题目要求，围绕题目进行适当的发挥，表达可以从宏观到微观；从抽象到具体；从理论到实践。表达要有层次，最好用“一个主题句+若干个支持句（最好两个句子）+一个总结句”的写作方法，因为这样表达既有层次，又有逻辑。
比如：
08年江苏省高考试卷书面表达参考答案有关“怎样倾听”是这样表达的：
What I want to stress is that each of us should listen more to others.（主题句，表明个人观点） Show your respect and never stop others till they finish their talk; （具体做法1）show you are interested by a supportive silence or a knowing smile; （具体做法2）be open-minded to different opinions even though you don’t like them. （具体做法3）In a word, good listening can really enable us to get closer to each other.（总结句，进一步阐明自己的观点）
再比如:
08年浙江省高考试卷书面表达“Working Individually or Working in a Team”中对“我喜欢的方式和理由”是这样描述的：
Personally, I prefer to work in a team, which offers me a chance to learn how to get along with others and to share my experiences with them. （主题句、阐明自己的观点）As the work can be divided among several people, it can be done efficiently.（支持句，说明自己观点的理由） Teamwork is always important.（总结句，对自己的观点做进一步的强调）


第三、要善于积累
很多同学在陈述个人观点或看法或者个人的打算之所以“爱你在心口难开”，不是因为他们没有写作素材，而是因为他们的写作素材是凌乱的，不成系统的。正如一个大口袋里有许多东西，口袋的主人可能也知道口袋里有哪些东西，但是关键的时候就是拿不出来。如果我们在平时的写作训练中把一些热门话题的常用表达方式进行适当的总结、使之系统化，在关键的时候，我们就能“信手拈来“了。

bend one’s efforts to sth or doing sth/ bend one’s mind to sth or doing sth
apply oneself to sth or doing sth/focus on sth or doing sth
concentrate on sth or doing sth,etc.
◆After each class，we should review what we have learned in the class in time and often.
▲In order to achieve high grades, I must pay more attention to the mistakes that I have made in my exams, because the mistakes can teach me many valuable things.
