If I wanted to achieve something great in NYC, I'd have to speak the most fluent English possible. So I'm practicing, starting by reading.
I remember in grade 6 when we would take turns reading books out loud before we were supposed to take naps at noon. Everyone would listen and drift off to sleep. It's only 15 minutes a day, sometimes we go over a little if the story is exciting, but we finished a few big books like Harry Potter just in one year. It was a sweet, relaxing moment for me, and since i was regularly reading for people, i was able to read Chinese fluently ever since. I'm trying to do the same thing here and I hope by reading books out loud and recording myself, I can improve my English oral skills just like I did in grade 6 with Mando.
