Hello Everyone,
Just a little update on this, we've got a user who's graciously agreed to send us his reproducing Lumia 830 device. As soon as we've conducted some investigation on his device I'll give you an update. We did have a Lumia 950 in house reproducing this problem and the hardware was at fault. I'm hoping we can get it over to hardware engineering to have someone take a look, possibly diagnose how the device is getting into this state. In the meantime I'm still working on better log collection.
I do have one request of people reproducing this issue. On the camera engineering team we've been discussing how an update could induce this problem. There's several theories out there, the one with the most backers is that during update the device is overheating and thermalling possibly causing the camera model solder to break down which breaks the camera module connection. In this case, since device was in update, the thermal notification wouldn't fire to shut down the device, and that could induce the camera hardware failure. Could anyone verify if their device was overly hot during upgrade?
Thanks for your continued patience on this issue,
Tom
