Your study reported a negative finding of no decrease in the frequency or rate of epistaxis in the patient group that received 1% ephedrine + oxybuprocaine nasally compared with patient group who did not received any lubrication containing ephedrine. Of note, the overall frequency or rate of epistaxis appears high in both groups (28% and 30%). The observed rate of clinically significant Grade III or IV epistaxis was 8/75 (10.7%) in the EG and 13/74 (23.0%) in G. This generates a P = 0.23, but with an ARR of 11.3, this equates to a clinically significant NNT of only 8.8. Your negative findings could thus be simply due to a Type II error because your study only included a small number of patients and was underpowered. A more valid group sample would have been 160.
其实13/74=17.6%,老外如何从ARR是绝对危险度吧,应该是0.07吧,NNT应该是14吧,样本量应该是每组396例吧,我有回复的意义吗,怎么回复
