The Loong Year's festival
Must be a spiritual revel
Via rice puddings, a luck logo
Cherished by every home
Today nature is mercy and kind
Blessing everyone in the hotland
Alhough the scorching summer,
for whatever, comes earlier

By raising a cup of liquor
Over and over again
To narrate our life's splendor
Let's drink to the prosperity
Of our folks and our country
Let's dream of whatever we want
To celebrate for nature's grants

DuanWu is a traditional festival for praying to Heaven to expel evils and pandemics, but it has been kneaded into several cultures through diversified interpretatons. The so-called Dragon Boat is a label hard to grasp its link to the traditional meaning, especially in the eyes of those living in North.

One of my understandings is that the ancients regarded happiness as a plain goal. A life without disasters or diseases was a happy one. So, to pray to Heaven to expel evils and pandemics meant to seek happiness. Today, happiness is defined differently.

The term "dragon boat " is not properly used to describe the festival, it should be changed to "duanwu festival" ,for its narrow description of Chinese national culture.

This is the hottest DuanWu fest I've ever had. Today I visited a museum where visitors were not crowded though the visit is free of charge.
