The Black Eyed Peas star said this week that the group – who have made it into next weekend’s final of the ITV show – contacted him to help launch their careers.
“I know those guys. I met them backstage at a party in London. They sent me an email and asked me to check out their new song,” he explained.
The American music mogul added: “They are signed to Sony so I couldn’t do that.”
Meanwhile, Will hit out at bosses of the BBC One series for axing half of the live shows.
Speaking ahead of the first live final, which will air next Friday to avoid the Britain’s Got Talent 2013 final on Saturday, Will said: “I prefer it live. I even think the blind auditions should be live. I would do it all freaking live if I could. It would be more risky but there would have to be preparation.”
He said backstage during rehearsals with his acts: “I like the new elements of the steals in the battle round and the knockout round but I think there should be more lives.”
