Dear Listen to Purdue Students:
Listen to Purdue was designed to help you practice listening to English before you arrive in the US -- to get accustomed to Purdue sights and sounds and help prepare you for your first semester on campus.
Completing the exercises in the program has no bearing or relation on your grades and will not affect your GPA.
The important thing is to listen to the videos and do the activities to prepare for your arrival, that is, if you are able.
We understand that some students have experienced difficulties with the program. For some, the downloads have been taking a long time, the program may crash, and once they're out, they may not be able to get back in to complete or repeat a lesson.
If the program crashes and/or the videos won't load, postpone your use of the program until you arrive on campus. Listen to Purdue will still be available after you have completed VSTAR and registered for classes, and it works better on campus.
If you are experiencing difficulties, please move past the program so you can finish the other sections of VSTAR and are ready to contact your Academic adviser.
We will do everything we can to solve these problems for next year's students.
Again, don't worry about technical problems with the program. Move on if you cannot download the videos or complete the exercises.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me either by email or through Blackboard.
