With the advent of Daylight Saving Time at 2am Sunday, expect to see early primetime TV ratings get a haircut next week as people stay away from home a bit later in the evenings.
In 2014, the first Monday after DST saw a reduction (36.1% to 31.1%) in adults 18-49 watching TV in the 8pm hour, and a smaller reduction (38.6% to 36.2%) in adults 18-49 watching TV in the 9pm hour, and an increase (35.3% to 36.0%) in adults 18-49 watching TV in the 10pm hour vs. the previous (standard time) Monday.
Was it all due to Daylight Saving Time? Your guess is good as mine.
Here are past year's posts with old numbers for those who wish to look back: 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011.
Will that excuse save your show? Or is it futile #FanExcuseBingo? Only time will tell.
First Monday AFTER DST (3/10/14) - Daylight Saving Time
Portion of Adults 18-49 watching TV from 8-9pm: 31.1%
Portion of Adults 18-49 watching TV from 9-10pm: 36.2%
Portion of Adults 18-49 watching TV from 10-11pm: 36.0%
Last Monday BEFORE DST (3/3/14) - Standard Time

Portion of Adults 18-49 watching TV from 9-10pm: 38.6%
Portion of Adults 18-49 watching TV from 10-11pm: 35.3%
