今晚7点50分左右，奥克兰市中心居民听到大概5声疑似枪声的声音，不久后至少有7辆警车出现，警察拿着手电筒在 Myers Park 里搜索, 随后也有数辆救护车和消防车出现， 目前 Mayoral Drive 已被封路。警方当时拒绝讨论发生什么事情，但现在已说明这是一场凶杀案，并展开了调查。
警察说大概7点23分时有人报案说有一名男子携带武器进入Myers Park， 警方到达现场时与该男子进行谈判，可惜谈判无效。 当该男子扬言要启动武器时，警方才开枪将他击毙。警方认识该名男子。
有目击者说看到在公园里有一具被白布遮盖住的尸体。
当时有数量闪着灯的警车和救护车停泊在 Mayoral Drive 桥上，也有一组警察聚集在 Myer's Park 的入口。

Police shoot, kill armed man in Auckland park
An armed man has been shot dead by police in Auckland's Myers Park.
Police have launched a homicide investigation after a man known to the police was shot dead by an officer on Sunday night. The man's body remained at the park which was closed to the public until a scene examination took place on Monday.
A cordon for pedestrians on one side of Mayoral Drive was lifted at 11.40pm but the road remained blocked to traffic.
