I visited two water dams on the Colorado river, Hoover dam and Glen Canyon Dam, that offer us Lake mead and Lake Powell respectively. Their water are very low due to the drought and megadrought.
. [Wild Red Stones] Authored by MooreYuan 25 July 2024. Bryce N.P. A red sun shines over the hill/ Against its red color and gills/ Pure and flawless like rills/ Streamed shapes show age/ But wild sand and gusting rage/ Paint a picture of savage// . Birds and humans are rare/ Stars on the sky are brighter/ Guarding night, silent, safer/ I'm walking forward fearless/ Though alone and aidless/ My footprints left traceless// .
To me, Bryce park seems better than the Grand Canyon. Today I followed the Bryce hike trails for three miles and had closer looks at those Danxia rocks. There are many campsites around the park, and along Hwy 89. Tonight I sleep at a site with the power and water supply including warm shower.
Last night we met trouble, challenged by gusts and rains. The gusts were too powerful that reached 20mph, or nearly Grade 8. My tent was tilting and swaying, so severe that I was worried about being blown away. But this Ozark tent is proved excellent.
Now we are very close to Salt Lake City, just two hours drive. We feel happy and lucky because this hot city, usually scorched under a high of 42C, is forecast to be 33C today.
. [ Salt Lake Sighs] Authored by MooreYuan 26 July 2024. SLC. . Water in this lake is so salty That most think her a dead beauty No fish, no shrimp, no flirty We're seeking something alive We see greens that survive We sigh! we try to deep dive Few think about its salinity We come to see its beauty And hear the sound of uppity Finally appear some flowers Lives must spread everywhere Grand nature is a wonder .
