Enya: "If people aren't going to understand the language it's very important how you sing the song, how you get the song across, that people can grasp what this song is about, not necessarily knowing what I'm saying in Gaelic or in Latin. Because Latin is a very old language as well, so it is important to me that when I sort of sing that song that I still capture the essence of the song, or the emotional content of it. And when it's right it's right, that's all I know."
"It's something I've always wanted to do, to write a Christmas album, and it's a project I'm very much enjoying and the first 2 original songs. And the first one is called 'The Magic Of The Night,' which really kind of describes what Christmas is about. It's that magical moment that everybody kind of look forward to and it means different things to different people. So I'm trying to sort of conjure up really kind of universal feeling for people."
"I think it's, time with family and friends. It's always a time that kind of grounds you, you enjoy that moment and you kind of forget all the sort of work that you've done and the work you have to do, it's just again, very sort of calming and there's nothing better than to catch up with family and friends. It's very important."
"I find that there are times where I've finished an album where I need time from the studio, and it's wonderful then do go and perform and sing the songs around the world. But then there's a time when I feel I have to stop travelling, and it's like I really need to start writing again. So I kind of know the moment, I kind of gather all my ideas and my influences, they're all kind of there and I just want to put them into a melody, into a song. So it's something that I enjoy doing."
"People from day one were able to adapt their own emotional feelings with this music even though, say it was a song about my grandparents, or it's a song about a place I like to walk and take time, but they were able to try to capture that sort of emotional feeling when you're sort of performing the song, they can pick up on that, but then they sort of can take it a step further sometimes and that to me was fascinating, that it crosses so far, because you can not go into the studio and try to capture this; this is something that I've been told evolved form the music itself."
"I'm just hoping people can relive Christmas and take the moment of Christmas and enjoy it. That's really what I'm trying to grasp within the melodies, with the performance, so it's the magic of the night, it's Christmas secret, it's special time."
